Magazine Cover Project: OtakuTR
Hi there! It's me again with another project which is assigned to us by our beloved course instructor. I highlight this because.. well you'll understand why. I'll be talking about this online poster project and what I've experienced in the process of creating it.
The Process of Creating
We have given two options to this project. One is movie poster book report project and the other one is magazine cover project. I have thought for some time to decide which one should I go into. Then I realized that I don't like reading books of any kind so how could I intentionally choose a project related to it. The aim was clear I was gonna create a magazine poster. Fortunately, it was all our choice to decide on the theme of the magazine. As I adore anime, I had to do a magazine cover originated by anime. Once I have decided the theme of the cover, it was time I start looking for any possible tool to help me. I found it quickly by just trying out some alternative sites. In this assignment, I used Lucidpress.com for it's integrated features that allows me to do various things. The things I need in order to do it the way I would love anime again and again just by looking at it.
I looked for some examples of various magazine types so that I could conclude my final draft of the magazine cover. I have picked up a name which is also related to the theme. In the left side of the cover. I've put some hit anime which would be the topics inside the magazine.
My preferred audience to this magazine is obviously all anime fans with from all age groups. So that not anyone else can understand the topics of which the magazine is really about.
How I Feel About the Project
Well, I didn't know what to do at first. I have to admit that I actually liked the project for several reasons. It is quite a unique idea to ask your students to create such a material. It helps not only with the writing skills but also the creativity and if the students worked in groups collaboration and communications skills which are the key elements of 21st century learning.
Further Usage for My Students
I will definitely use such kinds of tasks and projects to support my students. Why a person grown up in the culture and environment of 21 century wouldn't want to use it? I would give them such tasks because I believe these kind of tasks would not only give them an opportunity to be more creative but also their imaginations. With such activities they will learn naturally. However this task requires some cognitive developments first but with the teacher planning before giving students the tasks it will no longer an issue. I kind of envy them. They have such tools and a massive digital opportunities that can be implemented to help their learning processes.
